Led by Rochester-based singer-songwriter Neil Van Dorn, NVD is an indie folk and Americana project with a live experience that expands into dynamic, improvisational rock territory. Drawing on the melodic craft of John Mayer, the groove-driven sensibility of Dave Matthews Band, and the laid-back warmth of Jack Johnson, NVD delivers tight, story-driven songs that evolve into something fresh each night.
Known for unearthing deep cuts and making them entirely their own, NVD blends structured improvisation, genre-spanning segues, and fluid transitions into a seamless live experience. From Bob Marley into The Beatles, to Chris Stapleton into Sublime, to a reimagined take on Ride Wit Me — no two shows are exactly alike, and no moment feels expected.
A staple of the Finger Lakes music scene since 2014, NVD has shared stages with national touring acts and earned regional recognition for a live show that feels equally at home on a festival stage or in an intimate lakeside setting. Their latest release, Blue Skies, marks a new creative chapter, pairing heartfelt songwriting with cinematic visual storytelling.
